Face Blur
Auto-detect faces in any photo and blur, pixelate or black them out before sharing.
100% private — your photos never leave your deviceBlur faces in your photo
Drag on the photo to draw a box. Click a box to select it, then pick a style or press Delete to remove it.
Add a photo to begin
Auto-detect finds faces for you, or draw boxes yourself. Nothing is uploaded — ever.
How it works
Add your photo
Drop, browse or paste a photo. Large images are downscaled for smooth editing, and your download is exported at up to 4000 px — full quality for sharing and printing.
Find and blur faces
Tap “Auto-detect faces” to find faces automatically, or drag boxes yourself. Each box can be blur, pixelate or a black bar — click any box to restyle it.
Download the result
Export a clean PNG with EXIF location data stripped. Your original photo is never uploaded or stored anywhere.
Choosing the right blur style
Blur (gaussian) is the friendliest option — faces melt softly into the background. Pixelate screams “censored” and draws the eye, which is sometimes exactly the point. Black bar is the strongest anonymization but looks harsh. Rule of thumb: blur for privacy in otherwise normal photos; black bar when the face must be unmistakably gone (license plates or documents caught in frame get the same treatment). Click any box to restyle it.
Worked example
24 crowd photos from a street fair, 67 faces in total. Auto-detect finds 61 faces in about 40 seconds. Six misses — sunglasses, sharp profile angles — get manual boxes in roughly 2 minutes. All boxes set to blur, exported as PNGs with EXIF location data stripped. Total: under 5 minutes for a share-safe album, with the originals untouched.
Limitations
Auto-detect misses some faces — sunglasses, face masks, extreme angles, tiny distant faces — so review every photo before sharing. Detection needs one internet connection to download the model; everything after that is local. The blur is permanent in the export, so keep your original if you might want it later.
Faces are not the only thing worth covering before you share an image. The Watermark Cover Tool paints over watermarks, logos and other regions you would rather not publish. And when it is the whole backdrop that has to go rather than a detail in it, our guide to removing an image background for free walks through the AI cut-out route.
