Karaoke Recorder

Record yourself singing over a backing track — the music plays while you sing — then mix voice and backing into one finished MP3 or WAV.

100% private — your files never leave your device

Record your take

This is a sing-over-track studio, not a plain voice memo recorder: you bring the backing track, sing along while it plays, and walk away with a single mixed file. Upload any instrumental or karaoke backing, allow microphone access when asked, and press record — the backing plays through your headphones while your voice is captured. When you stop, both are lined up from the same starting instant and mixed with your volume sliders, with optional live mic monitoring while you perform. Headphones are strongly recommended so the backing does not leak into your vocal mic. Everything is recorded, mixed and encoded on your device; nothing is uploaded. It suits singers rehearsing for auditions, friends recording duets one take at a time, and creators making cover videos for social media. Record as many takes as you like — each new recording replaces the last — and only export when you love the performance.

Microphone access is requested only when you press the button below — never before, and the audio never leaves your device.

Microphone not enabled

How it works

1

Load the backing, enable the mic

Drop in your instrumental or karaoke track — MP3, WAV, OGG or M4A. Then press "Enable microphone" and allow access when your browser asks. Put on headphones; they keep the backing out of your vocal recording.

2

Sing your take

Press "Start recording": the backing plays and your microphone records at the same instant. Turn on live monitoring if you want to hear yourself (headphones only). Press stop when the song ends — your take is captured and lined up with the music. Watch the timer to track the song's length; small mistakes don't matter since you can re-record instantly.

3

Mix and export

Balance the backing against your voice with the sliders, preview the mix, then export one finished MP3 or WAV. Recording, mixing and encoding all happen locally in your browser — your performance never leaves your device. Share the file anywhere; it plays on any device.

Getting a clean take: a singer’s checklist

Most disappointing karaoke recordings fail for the same three reasons: the backing track leaks into the microphone, the room adds echo, or the vocal level swamps the music. A two-minute setup fixes all three.

Headphones are non-negotiable. If the backing track plays through speakers, the microphone records it a second time, slightly delayed — that is the washed-out doubling you hear on the export. Wired headphones are best; Bluetooth adds a small delay of its own.

Tame the room. Bare walls and hard floors bounce your voice back into the mic. A smaller room with soft furnishings — curtains, a sofa, even a wardrobe of clothes — sounds noticeably drier and more "studio" than a tiled kitchen.

Record a ten-second test first. Sing the loudest line of the chorus, play it back, and set the balance with the volume sliders: your voice should sit clearly on top of the track without the loudest notes distorting. Keep a hand-span between you and the microphone, and stay at that distance for the whole take — drifting closer and further is the main cause of uneven volume.

Sing full takes. Because the track and your microphone start on the same tick, there is no sync to repair afterwards. Warm up on take one, expect take two or three to be the keeper, and export MP3 (192 kbps) for sharing or WAV if you plan to edit further.

A finished karaoke track deserves an audience-ready finish. The Subtitle Burner bakes the lyrics or captions permanently into the video, and the Voice-Over Ducking Mixer balances voice against backing music automatically — the same ducking trick radio producers use.

Frequently asked questions

The Voice Recorder makes plain voice memos: press record, talk, download. The Karaoke Recorder is a sing-over-track studio: you upload a backing track, it plays while you sing into the microphone, and then your voice and the music are mixed into one finished file with volume sliders.
Strongly recommended. Without headphones the backing track leaks from your speakers into the microphone and ends up doubled in your vocal recording. Live mic monitoring should also stay off unless you are wearing headphones, or you will get feedback.
Yes, within a few dozen milliseconds. The backing track starts playing and the microphone starts recording on the same tick, and both are mixed from time zero. That tiny offset is inaudible in practice.
No. Recording, mixing and MP3 encoding all happen in your browser. Your performance never leaves your device.
MP3 (192 kbps) is the easy share-everywhere choice. WAV is uncompressed and much larger — pick it only if you plan to edit or master the mix in other software.
That is the backing track leaking from your speakers into the microphone and being recorded a second time, a fraction of a second late. Record with headphones on and the doubling disappears. A bare, echoey room can add a similar effect — softer furnishings help.
The balance is set by the voice and track volume sliders in the mixer. Record a short test of the loudest part of the song, listen back, and adjust until your voice sits clearly above the music without distorting, then re-record the full take at those settings.
