WhatsApp Chat Analyzer
Turn any WhatsApp chat export into stats, charts and fun insights — who talks most, when, and about what.
100% private — your files never leave your deviceAnalyze your chat
Get started
Export a chat from WhatsApp (open the chat, tap the name, Export chat, Without media), then drop the .txt file above — or try the sample chat.
How it works
Export the chat
On your phone, open any WhatsApp chat, tap the contact or group name, choose Export chat and pick "Without media". You get a .txt file.
Drop it here
Drag the file onto the box above or tap to browse. It is parsed entirely in your browser — the file is never sent anywhere.
Explore the stats
See who messages most, your busiest hours, top words and emojis, daily streaks and a shareable fun summary of the whole chat.
How to Export and Analyze Your Chat
Open the chat in WhatsApp, tap the contact or group name at the top, scroll to “Export chat” and choose “Without media”. Send the .txt file to yourself (email works well) and drop it onto this page. The analyzer reads it instantly — no upload, no account, no waiting. You get message totals, per-person breakdowns, busiest hours and days, top words, emoji rankings, and streaks.
How the Stats Are Computed
The parser recognizes iPhone, Android, and US 12-hour timestamp formats in either day/month order, so exports from any phone work. Every line with a timestamp and a sender counts as one message; multi-line messages count once, and system notices (“Messages are end-to-end encrypted”, “John joined the group”) are detected and excluded from sender stats. Words are lowercased and English stop-words filtered for the top-words list; emojis are counted by Unicode ranges; streaks measure consecutive days with at least one message from anyone.
Worked Example
Two friends export a year of their group chat: 12,438 messages. The analyzer shows Maya sent 7,102 (57%) and Luis 5,336 (43%). Busiest hour: 9 PM with 1,940 messages (16%). Top emoji: 😂 at 812 uses. Longest streak: 46 consecutive days in March. Top word after stop-word filtering: “dinner” at 214 mentions — no surprise, they are foodies. All of it computed in under a second, on-device.
Limitations
The analyzer only sees text. “Without media” exports replace photos with “<Media omitted>” placeholders, so shared-photo counts are approximate. Deleted messages are gone from the export entirely. The top-words filter targets English stop-words — in other languages, common words may appear in the list (the counts are still accurate). And very large exports (hundreds of thousands of messages) can take a few seconds to parse on older phones.
Understanding what is already on your phone cuts both ways. The export you just analysed deserves a privacy once-over — the Data Broker Opt-Out Kit works through removing your details from the people-search sites that trade in exactly this kind of information. And when the chat turns into a plan — a reunion, a road trip — the fuel cost guide splits the driving bill fairly.
