How it works
Drop in your document
A church program, a school handout, a zine, a manual — any PDF in reading order. It opens locally; your files never leave the browser.
Review the signature layout
The tool pads your page count to a multiple of 4 and computes the saddle-stitch order. The preview table shows exactly which pages share each sheet, front and back.
Print, fold, staple
Download the imposed PDF, print double-sided (flip on long edge), fold the stack and staple the spine. Page 1 becomes the front cover automatically.
Why imposition is trickier than it looks
A booklet isn't just "print two pages per sheet." Take an 8-page program: the first sheet you print must carry pages 8 and 1 on its front, and pages 2 and 7 on its back — because when that sheet is folded, page 8 sits behind page 1 on the outside, and pages 2 and 7 face each other on the inside. Get one pairing wrong and the whole booklet reads out of order. This is saddle-stitch imposition, and it's the reason dedicated tools exist.
Those tools, though, are either expensive or gone. Adobe's booklet feature sits behind Acrobat Pro at roughly $240 a year. Desktop alternatives like CreateBooklet cost money per platform and haven't been meaningfully updated in years. And on the free web? Nothing — no Smallpdf, no iLovePDF, no Sejda equivalent. Churches printing Sunday programs and teachers printing class booklets have been stuck with manual reordering or paid software.
This tool does the essential job in your browser: pad to a multiple of four (every physical sheet carries exactly four page positions), compute the signature order, and lay each pair out 2-up on landscape sheets so a standard duplex printer handles it. Two honest limits to know: very long booklets (60+ pages) get thick — professional shops use "creep" compensation to account for paper thickness shifting the inner pages, which this doesn't do. For the home, school and church booklets this is built for — up to about 40 pages — the result folds and reads perfectly.
A booklet that still weighs 40 MB is not ready to print or send. Our guide to compressing a PDF covers the size side of the same workflow.
A booklet is a home document; the house itself deserves the same treatment. The Home Inventory catalogues what you own — rooms, items, values — in the kind of printable record an insurer actually thanks you for after a claim.
